The Yoga Rx
Classes allow you to connect with your life-giving breath, with how you feel and with what you feel in your mind, body and spirit. Practicing yoga can help to build strength, increase flexibility, increase stamina, energize and/or relax, create a sense of calm and balance, increase focus and awareness, improve posture, and more! We have props that serve to allow for variations in practice to increase comfort, support, stability and/or depth in a pose.
First timers to yoga are welcome! Not able to contort yourself into a pretzel—not a problem! Pretzel configuration is not our mission or goal. Haven’t had a pedicure—no worries! Perfectly or recently pedicured feet are not a show-stopper for yoga! Wherever you are is just fine. Come as you are. Just wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move freely.
Learn about other principles and ethics of yoga like doing no harm, being content, self-study, truthfulness—as it relates to yourself as well as in relationship with others.
Choose classes based on what you need or would like to try. Not sure, contact us and we can help you decide.
The Education Rx
There is no denying that you are the expert on you. The Education Rx brings information to share and inform you about different topics that you might find helpful. Topics will include nutrition, gynecologic health, Ayurveda, mental health, and so much more. Is there something you’d like to learn more about—let us know and we’ll see if we can accommodate the request.
Pre & Post Natal Yoga
Prenatal yoga practice with variations and modifications of asanas (physical poses) and pranayama (breath work), is designed to support you in each trimester and prepare you for childbirth (vaginal or Caesarean, non-medicated or medicated). We address some of the challenges you may face in body, mind and spirit, during this transformational time. Sequences are designed to empower you to embrace your present as you tap into your strengths and harness your power. Yoga also helps you to develop deep awareness about yourself–body, mind and spirit, which is necessary to promote maternal health. Appropriate for new practitioners as well as those who have been practicing for some time. Props such as blocks, blankets and bolsters are available to support you during your practice and guidance is provided for safe and effective use throughout your pregnancy. Classes allow space to share and learn in community. It is intended to inform, strengthen and empower you. Before registering for this class, please notify your medical provider. An assessment must be completed prior to the start of participant’s first class.
Postnatal yoga practice is sequenced to honor and respect the postpartum body, mind and spirit. The practice allows space to gain new awareness of the transformed body after carrying life while (re)building tone and strength in various parts of the body. It is also helpful to address some of the postural changes and adaptations that occur as a result of holding, carrying and feeding your baby. If postpartum mood disorders (anxiety or depression) are present, sequences can be designed to help manage symptoms in conjunction with other treatment options such as therapy and support groups. Sequences are designed to empower you to embrace your present as you tap into your strengths and harness your power. Appropriate for new practitioners as well as those who have been practicing for some time. Props such as blocks, blankets and bolsters are available to support you during your practice. Medical release should be obtained from your healthcare professional before starting your postnatal yoga practice.
